Tammy Abraham transfer news: Striker joins Aston Villa in £18.2m deal

Aston Villa have signed striker Tammy Abraham from Besiktas in a deal worth £18.2m.

Abraham, who has 11 England caps, returns to the club after he spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Villa Park and helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

The forward moved to Roma from Chelsea in 2021 and was loaned to AC Milan last season before switching to Besiktas on loan this season, where he has scored 12 goals in all competitions.

The Turkish side, who were reluctant to part with Abraham, have had to pay £11.2m to Roma to sign the striker permanently before preparing to sell him to Villa for £7m more.

Abraham has not played in the Premier League since leaving Chelsea in 2021.

The striker, who will compete with Ollie Watkins for a spot in Unai Emery's team, is also the latest in a long set of deals between Villa and Roma.

Villa allowed Leon Bailey to join the Serie A side on loan at the start of the season but have since recalled the winger, let Donyell Malen join them in a permanent deal this month, and have now signed Abraham.

Aston Villa have also verbally agreed a deal to re-sign Douglas Luiz on loan from Juventus.

Once the paperwork is completed, he will join Villa on loan with an option to buy in the summer.

The midfielder had his heart set on returning to Villa despite interest from Chelsea.

He wanted to return to where he feels he had the happiest time of his career.

Your Site News has been told he feels his heart is still at Villa and this was the move he really wanted.

Villa have moved to sign a midfielder because of injuries to Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn and Youri Tielemans.
