Rotterdam Open: Alex de Minaur clinches title at third time of asking

Alex de Minaur claimed his 11th ATP title after beating Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets in the final of the Rotterdam Open.

It was the third consecutive final in the Dutch tournament for the Australian player, who lost in 2024 to Jannik Sinner and last year to Carlos Alcaraz.

Auger-Aliassime was also playing his third final in Rotterdam, having won the tournament in 2020 against Gael Monfils and in 2022 against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

"I mean, third time lucky," de Minaur said.

"I'm so super happy. It ended up being a great week here, a place where I always feel really, really good.

"I was just a step short the previous years, so it feels great to finally be able to lift the title."

Ben Shelton saved three match points as he beat top-seeded Taylor Fritz in three sets to win the Dallas Open final.

The battle of the two highest-ranked American men's players saw Shelton lose the opening set for the third successive round before rallying to a 3-6 6-3 7-5 victory.

Shelton improved to 4-0 in ATP finals and beat Fritz, ranked seventh in the world, after the pair had split their first two meetings.

The 23-year-old's title came after he reached the Australian Open quarter-finals last month, losing in straight sets to Jannik Sinner.

After saving three match points to get the third set to 5-5, Shelton had three chances to close out Fritz while serving for the match. Fritz saved the first two, but the 10-time ATP champion couldn't match his opponent by saving the third.
