Danny Röhl: Rangers boss named Scottish Premiership manager of the month for January after Celtic, Aberdeen and Dundee wins

Rangers head coach Danny Röhl has been named the Scottish Premiership manager of the month for January.

The Ibrox boss guided his side to four wins from four in the league last month, scoring 10 goals and conceding just one.

January started with a 3-1 win over Celtic, before a 2-0 victory at Ibrox against Aberdeen was followed by the same scoreline at Pittodrie five days later.

Rangers ended the month with a 3-0 win over Dundee to boost their title hopes.

Röhl's side are now just three points behind league leaders Hearts, and three clear of Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have a game in hand.

Next up, Rangers visit high-flying Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday - live on Your Site.

Speaking after being presented with his award live on Your Site News, Röhl said: "It is a pleasure to get this prize, but hopefully we have a bigger prize at the end of the season.

"The award is all about my coaches, all about my players, all about the staff in the club at the moment. We're doing fantastic, and it's a prize for everyone.

"We have worked tirelessly as a group to get into the position we are now and I hope there may be more of these awards in the months ahead, as that means collectively we have achieved what we want to achieve here at Rangers."

Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Röhl took over at Ibrox four months ago, with Rangers 13 points behind league leaders Hearts and languishing in sixth spot.

However, should they win at Motherwell on Wednesday and against Hearts on Sunday - both live on Your Site - Rangers would find themselves top of the table.

It has been a massive turnaround by the German but he isn't getting carried away: "It would be massive (to go top of the table) but still then, the season is long enough. You have to be humble, you have to be ambitious.

"We have a tough one tomorrow (against Motherwell). We know this and that is not just from the football side, also from the mental side and physical side. It is a big challenge for us, but we are ready, I feel it."

Motherwell are fourth in the league, and have not conceded a goal at home in their last nine fixtures, with Rohl adding: "I think what they have done as a club, what they have done as a group, big respect.

"I think, behind us, they are one of the best teams (in terms of form) at the moment.

"They are very strong, conceded very few goals, pick up a lot of wins and all in all, they're doing fantastic. It will be a tough challenge."
