She also participated in the Columbia Space Initiative, a team of students focusing on outreach, engineering, and aerospace science.

She wants to use science to improve and advance human life, according to Sorett. ,” Sorett wrote. “Her adviser shared that she looked forward to making connections and collaborating with scientists all over the world, noting that ‘Giovanna’s passion for science and humanity manifested in her curiosity, kindness, and empathy.’”
